my son is thinking of keeping one in a saltwater aquarium and the one he has seen was very small but i allways thought they look very large on these wildlife programs.will it stay smal in keeping with its surroundings or are they a different species to the ones in the sea?
The stingrays you are talking about on the TV do grow large, some as large as 6 feet from disc to tail(I have swam with them in real life, they really are HUGE).
But there are some species that can be kept in the aquarium.

But if your son does want one, keep in mind you will need a tank that has a large surface area and you cannot have rocks of any kind(except in tank of over 1000 gallons for dwarf species, and 10 000 gallons for larger species)
