White Acrylic
Posted in Nail Art | No Comments »How do I start over with an acrylic painting? White paint or gesso?
I painted something already and it's on the canvas pretty thick. How can I start over essentially?
By painting over with white once it's dry or with gesso? I know gesso is used for priming a painting, but can white gesso paint over already-existing acrylic paint?
You can use either white acrylic paint or white acrylic gesso. I think you will find that white acrylic gesso will be less expensive to purchase and use. Gesso will cover better, go farther, and provide some tooth.
Before applying the gesso you may want to smooth out the texture of the underpainting. You can try a product like a 3M Scotch-Brite Dobie Cleaning Pad. See below for the link to the description.
I've "sanded" a canvasboard with a Dobie for reuse. It worked out pretty good.
